Promote On Social Media

General Social Media sites such as Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, SnapChat, and more.

Having a great product or blog or service is only part of the story, getting people to know what wonderful things you have to offer is another big part of success. Social Media can be a big help, but it can also consume a lot of time. Hopefully this page will help you in your endeavors of working with social media, both in the process of setting up your social media pages, and in using them efficiently and to the best advantage.

My biggest thought about Social Media is to keep it under control so that it does not run your life. Running social media pages is not only a lot of work, but those sites can also be addictive and people find themselves surfing around rather than getting productive work done. That is why I recommend, especially to start with, keeping the social media down to just 1-3 maximum social media accounts. From what I hear from other people, these seem to be the favorites: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Now this is not scientific, but it is what I hear in the circles that I move in. A young person's circle of friends might like SnapChat better, business people may use Linkedin, and people involved heavily in Google probably like Google+, and YouTube is a great resource, but requires more learning than the basic social media sites. Your customers demographics will probably determine what social media sites would be most productive for your product or service.

Meetup - Build a community with Meetup. Start a group to find local people who love the things you love. - The real world is calling. Join a local group to meet people, try something new, or do more of what you love.

Meetup is more about Social Networking, but close enough to discuss here. If you are a part-time traveler or will be stationary living in your RV for a long period of time, Meetup can be a great asset for networking with people. I get emails from Meetup and watch for new groups that interest me. Recently a new group appeared in my email for seniors who want to travel both the U.S. and the world, the group skyrocketed with members and the number of people registered for the meetings have been huge. I ascertained from some things about the group that the organizer was a travel agent. And turns out that she is a travel agent, but people are still flocking to the site and I keep seeing posts about scheduled trips and people looking for roommates. She seems to be effectively using Meetup to promote her business and help seniors make travel plans, win-win. Also, Entrepreneurial Networking groups on Meetup can be fun, interesting and a good way to share your business with people. So keep Meetup on your list for promoting yourself and your business.

Image Sizes

Social Media sites' image size requirements change often and many social media sites stretch and reshape images, so it is often a series of hit and miss tries to get the right size image.

Also image services such as Canva and GetStencil have preset options for social media websites.
